Hints and tips, Whale

A Whale of a time suite

Hey everyone, so my order from the new catalogue arrived and I couldn’t wait to have a play!

My first choice was the suite ‘A Whale of a time’. I actually CASEd the catalogue and created this card first. 1591898572654

The base is Seaside Spray, which I stamped randomly the little heart in Balmy Blue. The heart is such a cute little stamp! I added a vellum rectangle, cut using the rectangle stitched dies. I attached this by using a tiny bit of glue in the corners and also dotting a teeny amount on the hearts that would be covered with the vellum. This means the glue is not too visible. The sentiment ‘Thanks a ton’ was stamped in Pacific Point onto whisper white and attached with dimensionals. The whale was punched out of basic grey and then again in smoky slate, which gave the ‘belly’ part which I glued on. The ‘dots’ are a stamp which I stamped in black. I attached this little guy with dimensionals. The squirting water I punched out of some DSP and attached with glue. I am so pleased with this card and it really got my creative juices flowing!

The next card I created was this -beautiful soft tones reminding me of a calm sea…

The base, again, was Seaside Spray and I added a layer of Pool Party which I embossed with the Seabed 3D embossing folder. Oh wow! This folder is truly beautiful! The shimmery white rectangle was cut with the rectangle stitched dies, and I then created a watercolour wash using Pool Party and Seaside Spray, with the new water painters! They are a pack of 3 in different sizes, I used the medium. Once dry, I stamped some of the little fishes in Coastal Cabana, and also some of the little dots which I stamped off first. The whales I created by stamping in Smoky Slate, and then taking a sponge and sponging some Pacific Point on one, and Seaside Spray on the other, just towards the top. It gives a two-tone effect which I think looks fab. I then punched out with the whale punch, and adhered with dimensionals. I made a bow with the new bakers twine (flowers for every season ribbon combo pack) which is white and Seaside Spray with a hint of silver…it is gorgeous! I also used some of the new Pool Party sheer ribbon, which is so soft and gives just a shimmer of colour. The sentiment is stamped in Basic Grey and I cut out, adhering with tear and tape onto the ribbon. A couple of sequins – whale of a time sequins – finish the card nicely.

I really love this card, hope you do too! You can order any of the products I used to create this card by going to my online store

Love Jane x
