January 2022 card class

Hey everyone! These are the cards we made at this month’s class 💙

The first card is using the new bundle ‘Seas the day’ and I die cut the frame, octopus, starfish and seaweed. I put a soft seafoam piece of cardstock behind (3¾x5⅜”) the frame (3⅞x5½), onto my base card in white. On the soft seafoam I flicked some ink from my stampin’write marker. This gives some texture to the card. The sentiment I heat embossed with white onto black, which is something I love as it gives such a crisp image. You can watch my YouTube tutorial Here

The second card is really easy, and it uses my blending brushes which I LoVe!! I started with a base card of soft seafoam, and I cut the frame die out of this. This makes your card quite flimsy as you’ve cut a lot of material away! To make it sturdier again, I cut 2layers of white (3⅞x5½), one I glued to the inside straight away, and the other will be glued behind the frame. Before attaching it,pop it behind where it will be, and stamp the sentiment. I used night of navy. Then use your blending brushes to create a soft edge that goes behind the frame. I used balmy blue, night of navy, and mossy meadow. When using the darker colours such as mossy meadow, you must take the excess off, so ink it up then swoosh it onto a scrap piece before taking it to your actual card. This way you won’t get the big blobby mess! You’ll get that soft, dreamy effect that I love. When done, glue it behind, and then I just added a few of the faux sea glass shapes to finish. The last card is a fancy fold! It’s called a Tri fold shutter card. You can watch my YouTube tutorial here as it might be easier to see how to do it! Start with base card 10½x5¾” score the long side at 1¾, 3½, 7, 8¾”. Then turn it around and line it up with the edge of your trimmer, at 1½. Then using your cutting blade on the trimmer, cut from the first score line down to the last score line. Turn and do the same the other side. These two cut lines make the three sections of your card.

Then the folding! So the first fold goes back, the last one goes forward. This makes the basic ‘Z’ fold. Then the middle sections- the middle section has two score lines which need to fold out, then in. This creates a sort of ‘mountain’ and ‘valley’. Then the top and bottom section will be the same as each other, but will be opposite to the middle section you just did. It really sounds complicated when saying it! But it’s really not, and hopefully once you have a go you will see! Once they are all folded, fold it flat- which is how it will be folded to fit into the envelope- and burnish to crisp it all up. Then you can decorate with DSP. I used a Freebie from sale-a-bration, Sunshine and rainbows.

You need;

(2x) 5½x1½”

(4x) 1½x1¼”

(2x) 1¼x3¼”

(2x) 1½x2½”

Then you can decorate how you like. I used ‘pierced blooms’ on one version, and ‘stitched stars’ on the other.

Hope you enjoyed the cards we made, do head over to my YouTube channel to check out the videos, I would really appreciate it!
